UPDATE 22/02/17:

Due to the pending sale of the farm that the run passes through we have had to revert to a course that we used several years ago. Logging has been discontinued of the Hoop pine plantations along Centipede Road. We have been lucky enough to be able to use this section again. The course distances will now be a standard Marathon and Half-Marathon with the current 9km unchanged.

Please view the updated course description and maps below for a more in-depth course profile. Those competitors that have already entered will be transferred into these new events. Relay legs will alter as well with legs of 21.7km and 20.7km.

Mt Mee Classic Marathon

New Course Records – Up for grabs

Start on the north side of the cattle grid, outside the Gantry Rangers Compound, Sellin Rd.

7.00am Start.

Proceed up Loveday’s Rd for 1.3km, turn left into Western Escarpment Drive to complete a short detour to make up marathon distance.

Remerge from the forest loop back onto Loveday’s Rd (2.6k), turn left and proceed to Checkpoint 1 on the corner of L Traverse track (8.6k). 

At L Traverse there will be Marshals conducting traffic contra flow. For this steep descent of 1.5km, runners will need to keep to the left at all times as this road is open to normal traffic i.e. 4WD and trail bikes. Practise team running before event day so it becomes second nature to move left only on race day. Any reported infringement will lead to disqualification from the Event. Rangers will patrol this area to enforce Code of Conduct.

From L Traverse track you will turn left onto Neurum Creek Rd, continue for 600m before turning right through a gate, downhill over a causeway onto Centipede Rd.  Centipede Rd is closed to all non-official traffic.

This is where the course alters from last year, with runners proceeding straight ahead all the way along Centipede Rd and out of the forest turn right onto Fyfe Rd and then left onto Settlement Rd at Checkpoint 2.

Checkpoint 2 to the Mt Mee Tennis court is on undulating bitumen road for 5.5km.

Run the full length of Settlement Rd. At the T intersection with Robinson Rd do a U-turn behind the tennis courts. Relay runners change here. Relay leg distances are 21.7km and 20.7km.

Runners will return to the Gantry compound on the same route as they arrived except there is no loop on the Western Escarpment Drive. Runners will continue straight ahead to finish inside the Rangers compound under the Bunya trees.

Half Marathon

New Course Records – Up for grabs

A bus will be available to take runners to the start from 7.30am. Competitors can drive to the start and can leave their cars in Thomas Rd, but must find their own way back after the finish.

9.00am Start. At the Mt Mee Tennis courts on the corner of Robinson and Settlement Rds.

The course will be the same as the 2nd half of the Marathon, with the addition of a 200m out and 200m back section to the Rural Fire Brigade station along Thomas Rd.

The course in a nutshell- 6k bitumen road, then gazetted dirt road uphill and downhill for rest of the run. Runners to finish inside the Ranger’s compound under the Bunya trees.

Checkpoints will have water and Endura. This is a hard run with some steep uphills. Cushioned footwear is recommended.



MT MEE FOREST RUN 2017

Forest Run 9km

Start on the north side of the cattle grid, outside the Gantry Rangers Compound, Sellin Rd.

10.30am Start.

Proceed up Loveday’s Rd for 1.3km, turn left into Western Escarpment Drive to complete a 5.1k loop.

Remerge from the forest loop back onto Loveday’s Rd (7.4k), right turn proceed back to Gantry. Runners to finish inside the Rangers compound under the Bunya trees.

The course in a nutshell- a few short up and downs, a long gradual uphill, steep downhill and undulating to the finish.
